We were recently able to add a few ounces into our silver stack. We added two 1-ounce 2015 Canadian Maples, two 1-ounce 2015 Red-Tail Hawks from the RCM Birds of Prey series and a 100 gram Scottsdale silver bar.
With the current price of silver we are looking to add a few more ounces into our silver stack very soon and we would be happy to hear your suggestions and what you've purchased recently. Thank you for the support as always and we hope you are enjoying your additions as well.

In episode 2 of Coincast, we discuss whether we regret buying our first ounces of silver at $35 per ounce in May 2011 with the current price of silver at roughly $15 per ounce.
Here is the first episode of Coincast! We have been wanting to do a podcast-like video series together for the past couple of months now and we hope that you enjoy episode 1. We are currently planning on doing at least two episodes a week, but if the feedback is positive we would be happy to do more.
In this first episode, we discuss the following topics:
Why Canadians are getting themselves into record debt
Whether you need to melt copper pennies or 99.9% nickel nickels in order to benefit from coin roll hunting
Whether silver is a good asset for retirement
We are more than happy to hear your views and opinions on any of these topics, so please feel free to leave a comment below. We hope you guys enjoy the discussion and kindly ask that you please like, comment and subscribe if you enjoyed it. Thank you as always everyone!
If you read our previous post, you know that we have not been able to add a significant number of ounces into our silver collection this past year. In 2014, we set a goal of adding 100 ounces of silver into our stack and we were fortunate enough to blow past that goal by the end of the year. However, for 2015, we determined that we would not set a number of ounces to aim for but instead looked to add what we could here and there.
We started the year off very slowly with no significant purchases until only recently when we added the 2015 Somalian Elephant 1-ounce silver coins, which we are big fans of. However, those 4 ounces aside, we did not add any other silver this year.
But we are committed to continue to stack silver for the rest of 2015 and we took a step in that direction with a recent silver purchase. We were able to add 8 more ounces into our silver stack by purchasing 4 1-ounce 2015 American Silver Eagles and 4 1-ounce 2015 Austrian Philharmonics. It feels good to get back into the action on the year. As I mentioned in the video above, we are big fans of both of these series, and as far as adding lower premium, government issued bullion, the Eagles and the Philharmonics are our go-to coins. Not only can we get them at relatively the same price that we can get the Canadian Silver Maples, or at different times even cheaper, we are big fans of the design of these coins and think they look great. The Philharmonics and Eagles help us to lower our dollar cost average and we hope to be able to add a few each purchase in order to ultimately fill a tube of them.
This recent silver purchase has brought our total ounces for 2015 to 12 ounces. That certainly is a small drop in the pan to many silver stackers out there, but for us it represents another step in the right direction in our humble opinion and keeps us motivated to continue upon this path for the remainder of the year. We don't know where we will end, but we are confident that we will be in a better spot at year's end than at its start.
Thank you all for the support as always and please let us know how your 2015 silver stacking goals are going or whether you have made any silver purchases recently.
The past few months have been difficult for us in terms of our goals in regard to stacking silver and coin roll huntingCanadian nickels. The necessity of having to focus on the traditionally considered important aspects of life that we all have meant that we had to put our silver stacking and nickel coin roll hunting on hold. However, we love silver stacking and coin roll hunting, and more importantly, we love sharing our journey in these respects with the amazing communities that have grown around these topics and the great individuals who we have the pleasure to engage with on YouTube and through social media.
That is why we are now taking the opportunity to refocus our silver stacking and coin roll hunting goals. Further, we have also committed to doing podcast-like discussion videos two times a week, which we hope to be able to use to discuss the topics of coin roll hunting, silver and gold stacking and economics more generally. It may not come across in all of our videos, but we are avid lovers of economics and history and the discussion videos should be a great outlet to be able to engage these topics more fully.
In terms of coin roll hunting, our goals are a bit more definable. We are hoping to be able to coin roll hunt through two $100 boxes of Canadian nickels every week. I believe that now is a great opportunity to try to get as many 99.9% nickel nickels as we can as there is the potential that these coins might not be available in significant quantities for much longer. Therefore, we will commit to making a push to hoard them and two boxes a week should be a very achievable goal for us. Finally, we do not have a set number of ounces that we would like to add into our silver stack for the rest of the year, but I think we have a number of purchases left in front of us in 2015 and I am confident that anyone following this blog or our YouTube channel will enjoy the additions as well.
That is the rest of our 2015 in a nutshell. We are definitely excited about being able to get back into our favourite hobby of coin roll hunting as well as making more consistent silver additions and we are excited to add a little more discussion in between the hunting and stacking. Thank you again to everyone for sticking with us over the past year and we hope you enjoy what is coming.
Have you made any recent silver purchases and had success with coin roll hunting recently? Please feel free to let us know in the comment section below as we always love hearing the results that others are having as well.
Please note that this free shipping deal for Canadian and US customers expires at midnight on April 6, 2015 and is only on orders over $500
It is not often that Canadians get a chance to have free shipping on their bullion orders. For that reason, I thought that it would be prudent to make the above video sharing a pretty good deal from Silver Gold Bullion. They are offering free shipping on orders over $500 for their Canadian and US customers until April 6th at midnight. Shipping in Canada is usually around $25, so this may be a good deal to take advantage of if you had planned on making a bullion purchase in the near future.
It would be nice to see market competition begin to drive down the cost of shipping in Canada, but for now, it is great to see this deal being offered by Silver Gold Bull.
We started 2014 with the goal of stacking and additional 100 ounces of silver by the end of 2014. We made a strong push in the closing months of 2014 in order to successfully accomplish this goal. In the above videos, you can see our recent silver purchases that we were able to add to our silver stack. We were able to diversify quite substantially with these purchases. We added the following silver coins and silver bars into our silver stack at the end of 2014:
2 1oz Bald Eagles from the Royal Canadian Mint's Birds of Prey Series
4 1oz Australian Saltwater Crocodiles from the Perth Mint
10 1oz Australian Kookaburras from the Perth Mint
2 10oz Johnson Matthey silver bars
6 1oz Johnson Matthey silver bars
1 100gram Scottsdale silver bar
10 1oz Mexican Libertads
10 1oz American Eagles
It was not easy to make these purchases, but we have been very dedicated to accomplishing our 100 ounce goal. However, we certainly would not be able to do it without all of the support that we have received on this blog and on our YouTube channel. We are very blessed to be part of the great silver and coin roll hunting communities and we would not have been able to make the above purchases with the same enthusiasm without all of you.
Thank you for all of your support and stay tuned for a blog posting in the very near future concluding our goal of purchasing 100 ounces of silver in 2014. That video can now be seen on our YouTube channel.
Let us know in the comment section how your silver stacking goals went in 2014 and whether you have started in on your 2015 goals.
